Happy Birthday To You

So last week was my oldest nephews 10th birthday. I cannot believe that this baby is a pre-teen! I remember the first time I kept him over night. Budzo was about 2 months old and I was living with 2 guys and 1 girl. One of my male roommates and myself were the only ones at home. I laid my little guy down on the bed for a nap. I was so careful with him. I put a pillow above his head and really large pillows on either side. He was settled and I was in desperate need of some nicotine. I tip-toed down the stairs and made my way outside. It was heaven! Half way through the cigarette and I hear my roommate yelling my name. I open the door and hear my poor baby crying like someone is pulling his arm off! I ran upstairs and see my roommate holding my little man who has great big tears running down his face. I look at the bed, all pillows were in place, he didn't roll off. What the hell happened?!?! My roommate said that he heard Budzo crying, went into my room and found my sweet precious little angel caught between the foot of the bed and the foot board..... Head first!
How the hell did that happen!! Needless to say, I went and got a pack-n-play so that it wouldn't happen again.
So 10 years later and I still look at that sweet face and imagine him stuck head first between the bed and the foot board. God do I love him (along with his 2 brothers and sister). Yesterday we gathered at my parental's house for the big 10 birthday celebration. Now my parents live in the boon docks on the side of a mountain, so getting down to their house requires skills and very good breaks. Parental Unit #2 and I got this bright idea to gather up all the fallen leaves and create a big pile. Not for the grandkids to jump into....oh no....that would not be nearly as fun. Instead, we started the kids at the top of the hill and let them take off like a bullet being fired out of a gun. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN! One would come down on a wagon or some sort of kiddy scooter and slam into these leaves. You would think that they had never done anything so exciting.
All in all we had a wonderful time and my oldest baby turned 10...sniff, sniff. So happy birthday Budzo. I have so enjoyed the last 10 years and I am looking for to watching you grow and mature into a wonderful, intelligent and handsome man.
