Things have been pretty usual lately; nothing really to comment about except that the Christmas season is here. So here a story that will hopefully make you smile.
Jake has been spending more time with me. After Thanksgiving down South, he insisted on spending the night with me. We had a great time until the events of the day took its toll and he had a mini meltdown.
J: I want to go home.
Me: Sorry bud, but you can't go home tonight
J: I want to go home. (sniffle, sniffle - no tears)
Me: I said no. It's late and I am not taking you home.
J: Mom will come and get me. (still no tears but very very whiney)
Me: No she won't
J: Yes, she will
Me: No she won't
J: Yes, she will (you get the picture? this went on for a few minutes)
Me: Fine! Call your mom.
J: Momma, I wanna come home. (silence) But I want...(more silence, tears are now welling) Momma.... (hands me the phone)
SIL: I can't come get him; I took a sleeping pill about 30 minutes ago and Junior is already asleep.
Me: That's fine with me; I already told him no.
SIL: You did?
Me: Yep, but he was positive that you would come get him.
(next morning - PU#2 arrives to pick up Jake)
PU#2: Come on Jake! We gotta run some errands and then head home.
J: No, Paps; I'm spending the night again.
Go figure!
